Comcast Gives Big

comcast_c2For the past seven years, the Comcast Corporation provides a day of service to schools throughout Utah.  Called Comcast Cares Day, hundreds of volunteers descend on schools to provide service in completing projects that are often pushed into the background.  Volunteers help paint classes, playground equipment, striping, they sometimes landscape, or even provide deep cleaning of the schools; generally the volunteers will do anything just to help spruce things up at the school.

“Comcast believes in giving back to the communities we serve,” said Ray Child, director of public relations for Comcast.  “Our approach to that is to dream big.  Our goal is to help create a learning environment where students can do just that, dream big. We feel by doing this, the kids will be more excited to achieve their educational goals.  Children are our future and we want them to be successful.”

In addition to the hours volunteered, Comcast contributed $10,680 that will be used by the Jordan Education Foundation to help fund the mini-grant for teachers program. “We are very grateful for this generous contribution to the children and teachers of our District,” said Steven Hall, director of the Jordan Education Foundation.  The JEF mini-grants program is used to fund a teacher’s innovative and creative classroom projects that enrich standard curriculum and directly enhance learning opportunities for students.
