H1N1 Prevention Tips

The Salt Lake Valley Health Department offers these prevention tips for avoiding the H1N1 virus:

  • Take everyday actions to help you stay healthy.
  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
  • Wash your hands with soap and water after you cough, sneeze or blow your nose.
  • Wash your hands often. Use warm water and scrub for about 20 seconds. Alcohol-based hand sanitizers are also effective (at least 60 percent alcohol)
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread that way.
  • Stay home if you are sick! CDC recommends you stay home from work or school until your fever has been gone 24 hrs. Limit your contact with others to prevent the spread of infection.

Payroll Statements Going Paperless

Beginning this month the Payroll Department is starting the process of no longer printing payroll direct deposit statements. Some District Office locations and schools will not receive statements this month and more locations will be added each month.   An e-mail was sent this morning to all employees with the complete rollout schedule.

Employees will be able to access their paychecks via Jordan Employee Access through the Skyward system. You can access Jordan Employee Access on any computer connected to the Internet by going to www.jordandistrict.org. Under the Faculty & Staff dropdown menu click on “Jordan Employee Access” to login to the system. Click on “Tutorial” to view a guide on how to use the system. If you do not know your login and password, call the Help Desk, 801-567-8737. Make sure you change your password the first time you login by clicking on “Change Password” link on the login page.

Employees are encouraged to get acquainted with Jordan Employee Access as soon as possible and not wait until payday. Jordan Employee Access also allows employees to view leave day balances and view insurance information.

District E-mail Service Upgrade to Decrease Spam

PortalThe Information Systems Department has upgraded the District’s e-mail service in an effort to decrease the amount of spam employees have been receiving. “This upgrade is supposed to have fewer false positives,” said Jeff Murry, systems and programming manager. “There is still a lot of fine tuning to be done, but in the coming days employees should start seeing a decrease in the amount of spam e-mails they receive.”

Employees will also note the e-mail access portal has a new updated look.
